Public bus garage with subsurface contamination

Description

The site was a garage for public transport buses with refueling and maintenance facilities. Extensive subsurface contamination was detected, mainly in the vicinity of fuel handling points. The diesel oil contamination was concentrated above the saturated zone. Project Status: Completed Media (quantity in m³): Soil (ex-situ): 1,500 Soil (in-situ): 10,500 Groundwater: 3,000 Contaminants: Diesel oil, lubrication oil Cleanup Goals: Residual contaminant in soil <1,000 ppm, in groundwater <0.1 mg/l Contaminant concentration before treatment: Excavated soil ranged from 10,000 ppm to 25,000 ppm, in-situ treated diesel and lubrication oil contamination in soil 1000-15000 ppm in groundwater free phase in film, dissolved contamination 1-5 mg/l. Contaminant concentration after treatment: less than cleanup goal.
