Periodic Inspection of Humus Troughs, Drainage Areas and Drainage Pits
Periodic inspection of humus troughs, drainage areas, and drainage pits
The leaching capacity of drainage pits can be reduced over time from fine sediment and sludge from parking and driving areas. Weed growth in a drainage pit can also reduce its leaching capacity, resulting in overflows during periods of extended or heavy rainfall.
Especially affected by this are the large open areas at shopping malls and commercial operations. For this reason, external periodic testing showing the functionality of the drainage pits is required by the authorities. The depth of humus in the drainage pit and the construction of the trough are both reviewed.
