BIOKÖR Technological and Environmental Ltd. was founded in 1989.

Our activities cover all aspects of remediation such as: complex site assessment and remediation of soil and groundwater. We carry out these activities for the Hungarian Ministry of Environment and Water commissioned by the institutions of the Ministry, big oil companies (MOL, Shell and OMV), MÁV (Hungarian State Railways Co.), various pharmaceutical firms and chemical and industrial units.

The company has an environmental analytical laboratory certified by the Hungarian Accreditation Board and an ISO 9001 : 2000 standard certificate.

The great number of site investigations besides the characterisation of contamination profile cover the examination of the physical, chemical and biological processes running in the soil and groundwater, we do modelling of potential transport paths of pollution as well as assessing the risks of environmental damages.

Providing various types of remedial technologies several ten thousands tons of soil and several hundred thousands of groundwater per year is successfully cleaned.

The procedures presently adopted by our company are:

Soil treatment:
- soil washing,
- soil ventilation,
- ex situ and in situ bio-degradation.

Groundwater treatment:
- extracting groundwater and cleaning groundwater by physical and chemical ways (skimming, stripping, activated carbon adsorption, chemical oxidation, separating heavy metals through selective ionexchange),
- in situ groundwater treatment through physical, chemical and biological ways (air sparging, chemical oxidation, bio-remediation).

As a speciality of our company we have, from the very beginning, laid emphasis on the technical development of the technologies we applied and, together with that, on the development of our own approved analytical capacity to control the efficiency of the procedures we executed and to make necessary interventions and modifications faster and more flexible.

Currently the company has 25 employees. 13 of our colleagues are engineers, qualified technical specialists and 12 technicians. The key people are geologists specialised in environmental issues, microbiologists, chemical engineers and environmental experts, as well as chemical and environmental technicians are at our disposal.
