Heating Oil Leak at an Automobile Workshop
Massive soil and groundwater contamination by a spillage of heating oil, subordinate waste oil and benzine, caused by a sump leakage in the oil storage room.
Scope: approx. 500 m² contamination plume/aquifer, approx. 450 m² free phase on GW-surface, approx. 400 m² (1.300 m³) contaminated vadose zone.
Die Lösungen
Vadose Zone:
Soil washing unit with approx. 60 infiltration wells – washing with cold and hot water (water heated by solar heating unit), washing with additives (H2O2) in planning. Washed contaminants were removed by the groundwater remediation system.
Aquifer:
IN-SITU remediation using hydraulic measures (pump&treat) ; removal and recovery of oil phase using skimmers and oil phase pumps, cleaning the water (oil separators and wet activated carbon filters (water flowthrough ~10 l/s), reinjection of cleaned water with surfactants into the aquifer by vertical injection wells
